Kristian Morgan set out to establish a new FKT on the Appalachian Trail. That meant he'd need to cover 50+ miles a day for 40 straight days while trying to find time to sleep and choke down enough calories to sustain the effort. The only constant he had was his mom being out there every step of the way, following closely behind in a rental van. He ultimately did not set the FKT, but what emerged was a reflection on your life's work and a portrait of a relationship between mother and son.
