Out & Back: Racing the Leadville 100

On Running

In 2021, in his first 100-mile race, Adrian Macdonald won the Leadville 100. Known as one of America's most gruelling races, "The Race Across The Sky" takes athletes through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Runners climb and descend 15,600 feet (4,800 m), with elevations ranging between 9,200–12,620 feet. In 2021, Adrian clocked a time of 16:18:19 – the sixth-fastest in the race's 40-year history. In 2022 he was back to chase more glory and take a shot at the course record.
